Spring Wildflower Walk a Big Success!

More than thirty BSC board members, advisory trustees, members, guests and staff enjoyed the Spring Wildflower Walk. The Walk was held on at BSC's Forrest Woods Nature Preserve in Paulding County, Ohio. The Walk was led by Dr. Lloyd Jones, BSC board member and retired professor of biology and agronomy.

The 250-acre Forrest Woods property is the last remaining undisturbed remnant of the old Great Black Swamp that had covered much of northwest Ohio. Nearly 400 plant species and over 130 species of birds can be found there.

The Marie DeLarme Creek area, where Forrest Woods is located, has been named an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society and one of the most important areas for preservation in the entire Great Lakes watershed by The Nature Conservancy and Nature Conservancy of Canada in their Conservation Blueprint for the Great Lakes, issued in March 2006.
